Australian Foreign Minister & Discuss Agenda Asean

JAKARTA - Foreign Minister Dr. Marty Natalegawaakan a meeting with Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd to discuss common interests in the political, security, trade, environment and culture.
One of the most awaited discussion by Mr Rudd is the discussion agenda East Asia Summit (EAS) and the Association of South East Asian Nations (Asean).
"I look forward to the discussion agenda of the East Asia Summit (EAS) and ASEAN for the coming year. With a special focus on practical ways to advance the priorities of the EAS, such as natural disaster response areas in a coordinated manner, "Foreign Minister Rudd said in a press statement to the Australian Embassy Okezone, Monday (01/09/2012).
Earlier, Australia and Indonesia work together closely in disaster management, and a joint initiative of the Australia-Indonesia has been agreed by the leaders in the East Asia Summit 6th in Bali in November 2011 then.
Both Ministers will also discuss joint efforts to combat terrorism, and a number of challenges affecting the region between the two countries, including human smuggling.
"I will also discuss prospects for progress and ongoing reforms in Myanmar with my colleague, Dr. Marty Natalegawa, who visited the country last week," said Rudd.
Rudd meeting with Minister of Trade and Agriculture as well as business leaders will also discuss the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement Indonesia - Australia, and cattle exports to Indonesia.
"In 2010-11, Australia's total two-way trade with Indonesia reached A $ 13.8 billion, an increase of 14 percent over the previous year. However, there are significant trade potential in our relationship with Indonesia, which, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers, will be greater than the Australian economy in 2023, and if this development continues, Indonesia will become the world's eighth largest economy in 2050, "said Rudd.
After from Indonesia, Rudd will travel to New York where he will attend the final meeting of the High Level Panel on UN Secretary-General of Global Sustainability at 11 to 12 January.
The panel recommendations will be the main input for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development "Rio +20", held in Rio de Janeiro in June this year
